Production Supervisor
Summary/Objective:
The supervisor directs manufacturing operations through development, execution, and continuous improvement of lean strategies to exceed metrics in People, Safety, Quality, Productivity and Delivery. The position ensures increasing levels of customer satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and machines. The operations manager oversees all areas of manufacturing to produce products and direct activities to exceed customer expectations while enhancing quality standards and cost objectives. Coordinate customer needs with operations, material planning and commercial management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages policy deployment in the areas of lean manufacturing, quality, cost reduction, on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, quality systems and plant performance measures.
- Preferable experience in the area of processing of steels for Cold Rolling, Annealing and precision slitting.
- Support the development of new products to lead to sales growth.
- Manage costs, scheduling and quality metrics of the operating units.
- Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
- Provides leadership for problem resolution integrating other department heads to facilitate faster improvements and working relationships.
- Manages material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand.
- Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, on-time delivery.
- Balances work cell capacity/loading across the plant.
- Understand the functionality of maintenance and maintenance planning.
- Provides leadership through a three- to six-month planning cycle.
- Determines operations head count needs and ensures compliance with company policies.
- Ensures compliance with company needs for capital investments and improvement projects.
- Manages compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must have strong verbal and written skills.
This position manages all employees of the manufacturing operation and is responsible for leadership of the employees within its department
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
