An established specialized transportation and rigging organization is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee heavy haul logistics, asset-based trucking operations, and rigging projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in project management, regulatory compliance, and leadership within the specialized transport sector. This role will focus on optimizing fleet utilization, ensuring safe and efficient rigging operations, and driving process improvements to meet customer requirements and achieve business objectives. - Oversee daily heavy haul and specialized rigging operations, including scheduling, route planning, and dispatch coordination.
- Manage the asset-based trucking fleet to maximize efficiency, utilization, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with project managers and onsite teams to ensure seamless execution of rigging projects from planning to completion.
- Ensure all transportation and rigging activities adhere to DOT, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols, conducting regular audits and risk assessments to maintain a zero-incident culture.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and implement necessary policy or procedural changes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of drivers, riggers, and dispatch personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and identify opportunities for training and professional growth.
- Champion effective communication and teamwork across various departments and project teams.
- Monitor and maintain the company's heavy haul equipment and specialized rigging gear, ensuring readiness and compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections to minimize downtime and extend asset lifecycles.
- Track and control inventory of spare parts, rigging supplies, and related materials.
- Develop, manage, and track operational budgets, ensuring cost control and alignment with financial targets.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on pricing, project bids, and contract negotiations.
- Evaluate and implement cost-saving measures, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize resource allocation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing operational concerns and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Collaborate with sales and business development teams to identify growth opportunities and support proposal processes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in heavy haul, specialized trucking, or rigging operations, including leadership or supervisory roles.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, heavy haul permitting, and rigging best practices.
- Familiarity with asset-based trucking fleet management, routing software, and scheduling tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with transportation management systems (TMS) is a plus.
