Freight Forwarder – Import Specialist

We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an import Specialist.
Locations: Washington, DC / New Jersey
Duties:
- Receive, review and process customer's instructions
- Identify the most appropriate route for international shipments, based on cost, service and transit time.
- Communicate shipment instructions to offices around the world.
- Update daily operations overview
- Track and trace shipments until delivery and inform customer accordingly
- Review International shipping documentation (Bill of Lading, certificate of origins, commercial invoices, etc.)
- Check and process vendor invoices
- Create quotes at agreed margins
- Arrange and follow domestic transportation from port to door.
- Identify issues and possible solutions for international transportation. Notify Supervisor, Sales team and customer.
- Process insurance claims through with in-house Claim department
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in Freight Forwarding
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and problem solve
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in interacting both with clients and colleagues in the US and around the world;
- Strong interpersonal skills to fit in and thrive in a small team
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, Outlook, MS PowerPoint & MS Word)
- 2 years minimum experience in Freight Forwarding
Additional Information:
- Full time position. Work visa / sponsorship is not available
- Hybrid work-from-home/Office with minimum 3 days in the office
- French speaking preferred
