Salary: $100k to $150k plus benefits

Role Overview

The Ocean Route Sales Manager is responsible for expanding business within a designated trade lane. This role involves marketing our full range of Ocean Services to both potential and existing clients while supporting other products as needed. The Ocean Route Sales Manager is expected to exceed client expectations while adhering to company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and Development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned trade lane, with a focus on U.S.-paid business and supporting the overall network business pipeline.
  • Develop a prospecting plan for the assigned trade lane by identifying potential clients using market knowledge, electronic databases, industry trade associations, trade shows, networking events, and other sources.
  • Prepare action plans to target and engage key decision-makers at prospective clients.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the client's business segment and the solutions offered by competitors.
  • Identify and analyze customer needs to develop tailored solutions that meet client expectations.
  • Negotiate pricing and service conditions based on the service offering, while proposing complementary services.
  • Secure service agreements/contracts with clients.

Follow-Up and Portfolio Maintenance
  • Maintain regular contact with key trade lane customers.
  • Anticipate changes in customer demands and translate these into new service offerings.
  • Develop and nurture ongoing customer relationships by attending industry networking events and hosting customer meetings.
  • Collaborate with Product Management Teams to develop innovative value propositions and customer solutions.
  • Stay informed about specific country trade developments, both operationally and from a procurement perspective.
  • Gather and share market information and data with the U.S. Sales team on existing and prospective clients, as well as emerging industry trends and competitor activities.

Qualifications
  • This is an intermediate-level position.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills are required.
  • Preferably 2-5 years of relevant sales experience.
  • A degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrated sales achievements with concrete business examples.
  • Ability to plan work effectively and measure performance.
  • Active involvement in the business community.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use other applications.
