IMPORT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR – AIR & OCEAN
Salary - $60k to $75k

Work Hours: 08:30 am to 05:30 am through Mondays to Fridays (overtime may be required when needed)
Minimum five years of relevant air and ocean import operations and freight forwarding experience - Minimum 1-3 years of supervisory experience.

Role
Assist the Import Manager in the day-to-day operations and management of the import department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receive, review and process documentation for an assigned base of accounts, and process documents through the system
- Track and trace FCL, LCL, and AIR shipments via steamship lines, rails, and airlines
- Coordinate with brokers to ensure timely ISF filings and import customs clearance
- Provide proactive information to the customer regarding arrival, delivery and shipment status
- Ability to handle a shipment from receipt of pre-alert to delivery
- Ability to handle 50-75 files per month including higher complexity shipments and customers
- Coordinate with COD customers to ensure payment is received prior to delivery
- Coordinate with truckers to ensure timely deliveries
- Negotiate with vendors on rates when necessary
- Generate and compile various spreadsheets or reports
- Anticipate problems and work on solutions when they happen
- Solve complex problems with tact and calmness
- Billing and invoicing to ensure maximum profits are obtained on a shipment by shipment basis
- Assist and support the Import Manager in supervising the import department
- Other tasks as may be necessary to ensure a smooth and prompt shipping and customer service experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance with import operations procedures, rules and regulations
- Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors
EXPERIENCE:
- Cargowise Experience a plus
- Ability to read, speak and write Spanish a plus
- Authorized to work in the US for any employers
