Freight Administrator
Sandvik Mining & Rock, the leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry, currently has an opening for a Freight Administrator on our Mid shift 11:00AM-7:30PM – Mon-Fri
As the Freight Administrator you will be responsible for scheduling pick-ups with carriers, preparing shipping documents and following up on customer inquiries with internal and external stakeholders.
Main responsibilities Include:
- Manage carrier changes
- Scheduling, quoting, and routing of Truckload and Expedited shipments
- Ensure all consignments are shipped in the most cost-effective way and are in adherence with shipping guidelines
- Process unrouteable orders: Criticality 1 shipments for US, Canada, Mexico, and international shipments
- Prepare shipping documents: Bills of Lading, SLI's, Commercial Invoices, etc.
- Ensure appropriate actions are taken to resolve shipping documentation issues or missed shipments
- Follow-up on daily inquiries for carrier change requests, expedited/must ship requests, exceptions and shipment tracking.
- Maintain integrity of freight management systems
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- May perform other duties and participate in other projects as required within the department
Experience and Required Competencies:
- Minimum 2 years previous experience in a transportation environment including domestic and international shipments
- Previous experience in a Transportation Management System
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel
