As a GXO Intern, you'll have the opportunity to work with dedicated professionals in an exciting, fast-paced environment, learning the skills that will help you build a meaningful career. During the 10-week program, the procurement intern will learn day-to-day operations, industry skills and overall comprehension of the business through working with carriers, operations and customers in procurement. The intern will also participate in bid research, strategy development and implementation to enhance our value to customers.
What you'll do on a typical day:
- Partner with Procurement stakeholders to examine contents of contracts.
- Perform market research and provide recommendations to Sourcing Managers on goods and services across all categories.
- Support cross-functional projects related to business continuity plans, cost reductions, operational efficiencies, and continuous improvement.
- Build performance-based supplier relationships that lead to optimal pricing, quality improvements, process improvements and solutions delivery.
- Identify and resolve weaknesses in primary and secondary supplier development plans.
- Conduct strategic supplier quarterly performance reviews using supplier scorecards to develop continuous improvement initiatives and actions.
- Assist in the preparation of RFX/Bid documents, evaluate supplier responses, and provide recommendations to drive effective supplier negotiations.
- Participate in training & feedback sessions with Sales & Operations stakeholders gain insight and strategically assist in continuous improvement of pricing tools by identifying problems and creating solutions.
- Participate and/or lead projects with key partners and peer interns by creating and developing project plans, determine requirements, deliverables, resources, timing/milestones, and risks.
What you need to succeed at GXO:
At a minimum, you'll need:
- Current collegiate Junior or Senior in pursuit of Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Business or related field with anticipated graduation by June 2026.
- In academic good standing with a grade point average of at least 3.0.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Advanced skills to build complex formulas in Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to present information and data in an organized, concise, and audience appropriate manner.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to travel on occasion.
- High degree of integrity to maintain confidentiality.
It'd be great if you also have:
- Leadership and/or people management experience in collegiate programs and activities, or in previous/current employment.
- Ability to use data to understand problems, identify potential solutions, and suggest the solution that's most likely to have the desired impact.
- Communicate and build relationships with others that contribute to the efficiency of the team.
- Knowledge or experience with Oracle and PowerBI software applications.
This job requires the ability to:
- Lift objects up to 10lbs.
- Stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time.
- Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel.
