Pay: Start at $29.00/hour, non-exempt.

SUMMARY
Prepares documentation and electronic data for timely and accurate filing of import customs entries. Working with our customers and customs authorities to make certain that shipments are released and that all necessary activities are conducted in compliance with customs regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process timely ISF no later than 24 hours before vessel departure (if applicable).
- Obtain and/or confirm all required import documentation.
- Surrender OBL and charges (if applicable).
- Assist clients with classification and/or valuation and properly rate commercial invoices.
- Process Customs entries within 5-day window of vessel arrival, ensure Customs release and update file notes. Minimum file count 75 entries monthly.
- Ensure OGA clearance, coordinate exams/sampling and monitor timeframes when FDA detained and ensure FDA refusals are properly and timely handled (if applicable).
- Maintain day to day contact with customers for status updates.
- Issue delivery orders.
- Process billing invoice within 24 hours of ABI transmission.
- Collect COD payments prior to release of delivery orders (if applicable).
- Push sales of Marine Cargo, Bonds Insurance, freight forwarding and warehouse distribution services.
- Assist customers with maximum utilization of WOC tools – event notification, website tracking, etc.
ROUTINE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend training classes and accumulate required number of training hours for continuous self-development

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (PHARMA)
- Each employee of the Pharma team will be required to work on a weekend, based on a rotating schedule, or to cover for other team members who are out.
- Because the weekend workload can vary, employees must clock in for the first three (3) hours of the day (8:00 – 11:00 AM) and will be required to check the workload periodically throughout the day, until 5:00 PM.
- If it is determined that the employee did not follow up as required during the day, they could be subject to disciplinary action, including possible termination.

- Each employee of the Pharma team must work one (1) holiday per year.
- Western Overseas has 6 holidays per year and the schedule will rotate between all team members annually.
- When an employee works on a holiday, they will be paid 8 hours of holiday pay, plus overtime pay at the employee's current rate of pay.
- When an employee has worked on a holiday, they will be given an additional paid day off, with the day to be mutually agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor. Employees are not required to clock in/out on this day or request time off in any way.
- When an employee works on a holiday, they will be paid 8 hours of holiday pay, plus overtime pay at the employee's current rate of pay.
- Employees will be asked to volunteer as needed to cover other team members' time off for vacation and sick time – with as much advance notice as possible.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Willingness to learn the CFR 19 and the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule
- Capable of working independently and as a team player
- Excellent customer service attitude and communication skills
- Good knowledge of the English language, verbally and in writing
- Good typing skills 35 wpm or better
- Ability to maintain high level of productivity
- Ability to prioritize tasks as needed throughout the day
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and recognize potential problems
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
At least two years' experience in Customs Brokerage to successfully perform this job.
