Position Summary:

American Roller Bearing is currently seeking Team Lead (Quality/Inspection) for its facility located in Hiddenite, NC working day shift (630a-230p), plus overtime. The Team Lead will oversee and coordinate daily operations within the Quality/Inspection Department, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. This role requires strong leadership abilities, technical, expertise in manufacturing process, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receives instructions and directions from the Operations Manager.

  • Lead a team of inspection employees daily by providing guidance, coaching, and training to ensure employees perform at their best. Maintain daily attendance.

  • Conduct production inspections utilizing the use of precise measuring tools and techniques.

  • Ensure and maintain that all necessary documentation (ISO/quality) for inspected components and assemblies is correctly utilized and completed.

  • Collaborate with Engineering to maintain documentation. Work with engineering route drawings for review, SDCNs and SSDRs.

  • Handle RMAs with manufacturing and customer service.

  • Must be able to collaborate with the inspection department employees, production supervisors/managers, and operators to resolve quality issues.

  • Generate maintenance work orders for equipment issues and submit them to maintenance personnel as needed.

  • Able to understand and utilize inspection equipment to include Micrometers and calipers, bar gages, height masters, hardness testers and other inspection equipment. Recommend necessary inspection equipment, tooling, fixtures, and other items required for production inspection.

  • Operates the CMM efficiently.

  • Promotes a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement (learning).

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety guidelines, quality assurance standards and other regulatory requirements.

  • Team leader plays a crucial role in ensuring continuity, efficiency, and effective management within the department.

  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, delegate effectively, and manage time efficiently.

  • Knowledge of safety protocols.

  • Possesses a basic understanding of and utilizes 8000 series specification and ISO 9001.

  • Good mechanical skills. Basic knowledge of machining procedures.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting shop drawings. Capable of retrieving shop drawings from SYSPRO.

  • Basic to good knowledge of computers and shop floor computer systems.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • The minimum length of time required to attain quality and quantity standards of assigned work under normal supervision is three years.

  • Prior experience in a Team Lead position is a plus.

All associates are required to wear protective eyewear, hearing protection, and slip resistant, steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
