Import Entry Writer

in Algonquin,IL


  • Full Time position 8-5pm, In-Office.

Job Description
  • Ensure Import / Export Transactions comply with U.S. Government Regulations under Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS), Schedule B classifications and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN)
  • Sound Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Codes, metal import experience, steel licensing, exclusions preferred
  • Strong FDA Experience
  • Tracking of inbound shipments with Shipping Lines/Airlines
  • Must have full understanding of LTL/TL carriers and Delivery Orders
  • Provide clientele with daily updates
  • Knowledge of ISF Filing procedures
  • Recognize routine and non-routine transactions for elevating discrepancies
  • Negotiate rates with carriers and quote clients

Job Requirements
  • Candidate must have at least 4 years of experience with Customs Broker/NVOCC or Freight Forwarder in Import Department
  • Candidate must have strong classification skills across a wide variety of commodities, strong ADD/CVD/FDA experience preferred and excellent communication skills
  • Seeking an energetic, motivated person who can handle fast pace industry with demanding clientele.
  • Person must be detail oriented and very organized.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of regulations of the following USG agencies: CBP, BIS, Census and other Government Agencies, Licensed Individual is a plus
